Kristin Stearn

Kristin Stearn Kristin Stearn is the Band Director at Red Deer Lake School in Calgary, teaching 155 students in the band program from grades 6-9. In 2015, the grade 7 band at Red Deer Lake School was awarded a Gold award for adjudicator’s choice at the Alberta International Band Festival (South). Ms. Stearn is also the former director of the Foothills Music Society, an adult concert band in the Okotoks and Foothills area. As an experienced French horn player, she continues to be active in Calgary as a regular ensemble member of Altius Brass, as well as serving as the horn clinician with the Vic Lewis Festival in Canmore for the last 15 years. Kristin’s newest project is being the proud director of the Foothills Children’s Choir in Okotoks. Ms. Stearn holds a Bachelor of Music in French horn Performance from the University of Victoria, and Bachelor of Education in Instrumental and Choral Secondary Education from the University of Victoria. She has performed with the Victoria Symphony, the Vancouver Island Symphony and the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra.

When she is not busy doing music, Kristin enjoys a good cup of coffee, the solitude of country living with her dog and cat, and making memories with her husband Jace, and two children Camryn and Nathaniel.
